Referral link: What it is and how to get it

A referral link is a link to a brand’s website (the home page, a certain product, a new items page, or a sale page) that contains special parameters for tracking orders.

ConvertSocial uses these parameters to determine that a user visited the brand’s website and placed an order using your link. This means you’ll be the one who receives the reward for the order.

If you deploy generic links in your content, you won’t be rewarded because it’s impossible to identify who referred the user. Always use referral links.

First, add at least one social media profile in your ConvertSocial account to get a referral link. How to add a social media account

How to get a referral link in the Brands section

1. Go to the Brands section and select a brand.
To find a brand faster, type its name into the search bar.

2. Click Get link in the brand card.
You’ll see the page where you can get a referral link.

3. In the Referral link field, you’ll see a ready-to-use referral link available to you by default. It leads to the brand website’s main page.
You can copy this link and publish it on your channel, in your account, or in your community.

4. Do the following to get a referral link to a certain page on the brand’s website:

  • Open the brand’s website in a new tab. 
    To open the brand’s website, click Go to site.
    Copy the link to the page for which you want to get a referral link, and paste it into the Brand website link field (1) on ConvertSocial.


  • In the Social media field (2), select a social media to publish your referral link.
    If you've got only one social media, you can only choose it.

  • You can also attach a tag (3) to your referral link. The tag lets you check how many orders and clicks the link has generated in the Reports section.
    The tag can only contain Latin letters, numbers, and special characters. The max tag length is 30 characters.

The final link will appear in the Referral link field.

5. Click Copy link and publish it in your content.

You can add it to your Telegram or Facebook post, YouTube video description, etc.

To make sure the referral link leads to the page you specified, copy and open it in any browser. If something’s wrong with your referral link, contact support.

The performance of your links—the number of orders and clicks made through them and the amount earned—can be tracked in the Reports section.

1. On ConvertSocial, go to the Getting a link section and paste the brand website link for which you want to get a referral link into the Brand website link field (1).

If this brand isn’t in the ConvertSocial catalog, you can’t get a referral link (you’ll see an error message). If it happens, try selecting another brand or store from over 100,000 options in the catalog, then generate a referral link to it.

2. If this brand is available in the ConvertSocial catalog, you’ll see the brand info on your right, and additional fields will appear on the page:

  • Social media (2). Select a social media to publish your referral link.

  • Tag (3). You can attach a tag to your referral link. The tag lets you check how many orders and clicks the link has generated.
    The tag can only contain Latin letters, numbers, and special characters. The max tag length is 30 characters.

The final link will appear in the Referral link field.

3. Click Copy link and publish it in your content.
